  Despite being constantly plugged in to email now, I haven’t had much time to catch all my feeds. So here is my brain spilling out: (I’ve been meaning to do this more, but that damn Google Reader shared items makes it too easy to skip.)

  Google Mobile has all sorts of goodies that work like a charm on the E62. I’m also finding it really cool that you can text Google and get excellent results in seconds. Didn’t know that? Yeah! send a text message to 466453 (Google) with a request like Starbucks 76107 and get addresses and phone numbers texed back to you. Faster and most definitely cheaper than calling 411.

  So I was watching a recorded episode of Criminal Minds last night when my Wii popped up the soothing blue glow, I don’t have any friends so I knew it had to be from Nintendo. Much to my surprise it was telling me about a whole new channel: Everybody Votes. This is marketing genius! Make surveys that are fun to respond to, next thing you know Nintendo will have “sponsored” responses and they will pay you in Wii points… One can dream right?

  I just got a brand spankin’ new Nokia E62 and I must say this phone is impressive. I haven’t used a Nokia since I had an ugly shoe phone 4 years ago and have been using a Sony Ericsson T637 for about 3 years so this phone was quite a change for me. I promptly setup my Gmail account and then copied all my contacts off my SIM card only to discover that there were duplicate entries for a few contacts. I found that it had made my contacts First Last /M or /H for home or mobile. Not clean at all. I needed to sync this with my Mac and I found an entry @ FreeBSDGirl that explained how to use iSync with your E62 and this worked flawlessly. Update: the Nokia E62 now syncs natively with OS X 10.4.9. I now have iCal and Address book in harmony again and that is nice. Also while browsing her blog, I found that she had PuTTY. This was a bit to get used to, but after playing with settings (and remembering what port I’m runnning SSH on) for a while I got connected to my server. This is going to be extremely handy. I have a few ideas for a few scripts I’d like to have and if they are any good, I’ll share them. So far, this phone is great and as I learn more about it I’ll be sure to share. So far, I’ve installed Google Mobile Maps and PuTTY for Symbian OS [Larger fonts for PuTTY]. Naturally, I’m on the lookout for some other cool applications so comment if you know of any others!   Panther and DST

  Honestly, I have not looked for a Daylight Savings Time patch for OS X 10.3.x Panther (I do not have the time or need personally), but is there a document saying that Apple no longer supports 10.3? iTunes still requires OS X 10.3.9 or higher, an even better example is the latest Security Update 2007-001 for Panther. Maybe it is just me, but I would consider it big deal when corporate America Mac users aren’t able to authenticate against their company’s Windows file server due to Kerberos authentication failing.

  Luckily Ian Ward Comfort has come up with a patch for users who have not upgraded to Tiger yet or those who are patiently waiting for Leopard to drop and you can download the patch from AFP548 (another blog added to my reading list). Also if you were curious, OS X 10.4.6 is the oldest version of Tiger that does include the DST update.
