There is a lot of talk about memory hacks lately. Once believed that RAM was cleared immediately after power was cut, it has been found that you can preserve the contents of the memory using an upside down of compressed air. Now there are even bootable USB drives to allow retrieval. Here are some additional links discussing use of Firewire since it uses DMA to interact with the hardware: Crack a Mac with Firewire and Hack into a Windows PC - no password needed.

If I was Magneto, I could have a lot of fun in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Shuffle your apps on the taskbar. Because I’m so anal about things, I really need this.

In the quest for “everything everywhere” I’ve resolved to only carry my Asus EEE PC and run Windows with all the applications that give me connectivity to all my servers. My only real gripe right now is that I miss Yojimbo or OneNote. I don’t want Office crufting up my XP install and Yojimbo is Mac only right now. I have found a great app for notes called NoteLens but I’m not entirely sure I want them to be local to my machine. This leaves me to install a wiki somewhere, but that has its own issues. Ideally I’d like a personally hosted version of Google Notebook. If anyone knows of a good web based “note application” please let me know! Thanks!

Good tips for XP on the eee. I installed it this afternoon and am really pleased with the results.

Sun buys VirtualBox. More competition is always better, but they have a long way to go.
